The Everyday Starbucks’ Ritual
Last night I decided to get a little spoiled. I made dinner (some delicious homemade microwave macaroni) put music, and light some scented candles that I had bought time ago.
This morning, before leaving I wanted to put some order in the living room. When I finished, I realized that my shirt was covered with spots of those candles (which I won’t buy again in my entire life).
Once I finished insulting the stupid candle, I went into hysterics. It was time to leave and I had not a clue on what will I do! I took a deep breathe and then I told myself… “Niki, do not let this ruin your day”. And I did not. I took another deep breathe and started to figure what could I wear.
30 minutes later, dressed and with a beautiful smile I decided that it was no sooo late, and I still had a few minutes to do my stop at Starbucks… Then I started to curse again as soon as walked into the store and saw the row they had. (People do not work? Nobody has to be on time?) I hate it, every morning the same thing. Always the same people.
On one hand those who have nothing to do but standing at the bar and start asking “what is this? what is that? mmm Ok, I’ll take this. Oh no no no wait! better that one!” In this group are also those who place a huge order to be “nice” with all their colleagues, and suddenly can’t figure how to carry the 100 drinks they’d ordered (Come on! haven’t those people realized that humans have only 2 arms?) Then, you have the nice and polite people (I come on this group) that order and pay in less than 3 minutes (cause we had plenty of time to choose while we were waiting!) Finally there are those who are standing behind you, and although they have no reason, will still complain and ruin your day. But we don’t care about them. Those people will never be happy.
Following the main story (mine!) I like to drink a different one every day, according to my mood. Today I had a Honey Latte (delicious!) It changed my day from good to great!. I ended up being late to work, but my boss didn’t seem to care much when I gave her the Strawberries & Creme Frappuccino that I bought for her.
In short, we shouldn’t take these things to serious… is the ritual of every day at Starbucks.
We are late to work, we complain doing rows, we fight with our neighbors… and spend half of our salary there! But we walk out holding a piece of heaven in our hands, and knowing tomorrow will be worse … but we will keep coming!
